Trainee Accounts Assistant

Location: Kidlington, Oxford
Job Type: Full time, Permanent

Salary: £18,000 – 20,000 per annum

The Role

The Accounts Assistant – Graduate/Trainee opportunity is an amazing opportunity for a recent Finance Graduate or someone with basic accounting experience to learn more and progress their career within Finance

Job Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

  • Daily Supplier invoice entry, with automatic invoice matching.
  • Supplier account management including but not limited to: New Supplier set-up; payment run, payment allocations; account reconciliations and investigation
  • Accounts Payable reconciliation, GRNI & Unmatched Invoice reconciliations
  • Co-ordinate invoices passed to purchasing for queries etc. ensuring items are rectified within a timely manner

Accounts Receivable

  • Customer account management including but not limited to: ad-hoc invoice creation and entry; debtor chasing; credit applications and checks; payment allocations; account reconciliations and investigations
  • Control / check suspended orders and accounts.

Person Specification

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A sound knowledge of Finance processing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and highly organised.
  • The capability to deliver accurate information on a timely basis, with limited supervision
  • The ability to understand, scrutinise and problem solve.
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • A good listener, possessing a high degree of sensitivity combined with the faculty to be objective.
  • Must be comfortable raising and handling queries with both external suppliers and customers, as well as internal personnel.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and in particular Excel
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • A flexible approach to assisting other team members

Purchase Ledger Accounts Assistant

Location: Kidlington, Oxford
Job Type: Full time, Permanent

Salary: £20,000 – £24,000 per annum

The Role

We are looking for a Purchase Ledger Accounts Assistant with a busy Accounts Department to joint our small and friendly team who manage the accounts payable function across the Group

Job Responsibilities

  • Processing a high volume of GRN invoices
  • Coding and inputting of expense invoices
  • Supplier payment
  • Supplier statement reconciliations
  • Dealing with supplier invoice and payment queries
  • Other accounts functions and support as required
  • Processing a high volume of invoices (Up to 70 invoices per day)
  • Resolve purchase ledger queries
  • Allocating payments
  • Communicating with other depts, branches and suppliers 

Person Specification

  • Excellent Communication skills both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail and highly organised
  • The ability to understand, scrutinise and problem solve.
  • Must be comfortable raising and handling queries with both external suppliers and customers, as well as internal personnel.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical way of working
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • A flexible approach to assisting other team members

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience of a Purchase Ledger role
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Knowledge of Sage accounts a must
  • Experience with Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Word and Excel
